Committed to Excellence

As a small independent professional business, LMAS has a primary aim to support lifestyle landholders with their small farm management and promote sustainable land management. It has been operating since 2009 and has a number of services which it offers to landholders and environmental organisations. These range from writing detailed small property management plans to conducting on-farm consultations to provide practical small farm management advice.

services we offer

Some of our main rural support services include:

Property Management Planning

Property management planning is a process supporting sustainable land management, which considers your personal aims, environmental issues and financial resources. LMAS specialises in drawing up specific plans for your property and develops action plans which are easy to follow and which match your long term and short term goals.

Farm Management Advice

Need help executing your plan? Not all of the advice available to you is necessarily appropriate, and at times it can be far from cost effective. So to receive the right advice your situation, look to an independent professional business with knowledge and experience to help you with your challenges. Move forward and make decisions which are insightful and match your budget.

Soil Testing and Fertiliser Recommendations

Even though your property may be classified as a hobby farm, testing for soil nutrient levels is recommended every few years. LMAS will process soil samples from small farms for laboratory analysis by CSBP Soil and Plant Analysis Laboratory WA. Fertiliser recommendations are made to suit your specific enterprises.

Pre-purchase Small Farm Appraisal

Prior to purchasing a small farm for that lifestyle experience, it is well worth engaging an independent professional business which can highlight any significant problems which may exist. LMAS has been conducting pre-purchase small farm inspections for many years now and can discuss indicative management costs, as well as point out any legal obligations and requirements you will have as a landholder.

Horsekeeping Property Plans

LMAS specialises in developing horsekeeping property management plans for horse owners who may need to apply to their local council for permission to keep horses in order to comply with the Development Act 1993. Under the Development Act, horsekeeping means: ‘The keeping of horses where more than one horse is kept per three hectares [7.4acres] of land used for such purposes, or where hand feeding of a horse is involved’.

Community Engagement

Whilst LMAS works closely with individual landholders in support of their small farm management, it is also engaged by established industry organisations such as Horse SA to deliver a range of workshops and farm walks to assist horse owners. LMAS is regularly contacted by community landcare groups and government organisations, including Natural Resources Adelaide and Mt Lofty Ranges (DEW) and Natural Resources South Australian Murray-Darling Basin (DEW) to deliver workshops, seminars and field days on sustainable rural land management.
